and how would it affect the backlight?
The above commentary is for entertainment purposes only. If this was actual joke the tone you just heard would have been followed by emergency response information. It's supposed to be fun people.

Re: Did this by using marker?

i'm just thinking any marker/paint that was permanent enough to not rub off on your fingers wouldn't be translucent enough to allow light through the key, and anything that WOULD let light through wouldn't be permenant... just a thought... the pic looks photoshopped... the lines on the ALT key, for example are jagged, while other straight lines (t, m, i) aren't. I'm not saying it's not cool or wouldn't be fun, just not sure how to make it happen.

Yea pretty sure it was photoshopped.

I mean if you really wanted to you could solder in some different LEDs. I've seen it done with PSPs. Would be cool but take a lot of effort.

and the other thing is im pretty sure that each led under the keypad covers more than one key, so you would probably end up coloring a group of keys...

Didn't someone do that a while back on an 8700 or something? I seem to remember a brave soul accomplished new colored LEDs. I'll look for the post...

Found it...I thought it was N8...

In the first post, It almost looks like the inside of the keypad was sharpied. Coloring the outside doesn't look like it would work. Then again, maybe it is photoshopped.

I remember seeing one that had color LED's behind the buttons. I think they used transparent film. (Colored)

Re: Did this by using marker?

hmm don't think coloring the inside of the keypad would work, you're trying to push color through a white button with a white light... the color would just wash out i think and make that button look faded or darker.

as far as the pic, i think we've established our position on it's validity, can we focus on figuring out how to make this happen?
