    Desktop Manager

Hello, I am new to this forum and would appreciate any help you can provide on a problem I am having with desktop manager for my 8100. I downloaded a program from handango.com and used the ADD feature in the DM. Well, sad to say, it started displaying messages that it was removing a large amount of modules. One of them was my Pearl API Programs! After it was finished, help on the menu screen would no longer work. I started getting module not found errors when I rebooted the phone, and the Cingular branding was gone. I was able to fix this by reinstalling the Cingular OS.

I tried again, and this time paid very close attention to the details on what it was going to do before hitting the next button. Of course, it says it is going to install the program I purchased from Handango, however, it always insists on removing Blackberry API programs, and there is no way that I have found to tell it NOT to! But to ONLY install the program. Any advice? Thanks!

Don't worry about that. It does it everytime you install something. You're just fine. Just continue with the installation.

    Re: Desktop Manager

A way to prevent the removal of any modules is to do an ota install rather than from the desktop manager. I get that error everytime I try to install from DM as well.

You may even try desktop manager sp1...

One time I removed my phone module and wasnt able to make calls at all, it was wquite funny trying to figure out what happened.

Let us know how it goes.

The only problem is, if I let it remove the modules, I get errors on reboot, (module not found), and my help files quit working, and who knows what else stops!

Have you tried going through installing with app loader in dm again after reinstalling the operating system? I would hate for it to happen again for you, but I've heard of this happening to people with brand new pearls, specifically the red ones. They reinstalled the os and it didn't happen again. They were able to install using dm without it removing stuff. Let us know what happens.
