    Dead battery

Last week my pearl took a little dip in the water, nothing big maybe like less than half a centimeter of water. The phone has been all funky and the battery life is getting worse every day. Last night I went to bed with about 2 bars left and I woke up and it was already dead. Just charged it before I went out, too. Is this something wrong with the phone or the battery?

Already called tmobile and talked to them for about 2 1/2 hours and they were sending me a new one. Now it turns out the order was never sent, bah.

A note of Caution - the battery and the device have indicators that will show water damage. Small white stickers with a red band (or red stripes or dots). When exposed to water they will turn solid red. If you return a phone with water damage to TMO for replacement they will most likely charge you back for the full retail price of the phone. You may well be better off looking at the For Sale 8100's here on pinstack.

Red XX is good -- solid red or pink is bad -- You are OK!

Do the red x's mean you just need a new battery? My phone just suddenly stopped working, and I noticed the x's on the battery.

It's just a piece of litmus paper. There are 4 or 5 through your phone. It's just a quick diagnostic test to see if it's been affected by water damage. Red x's or dots are good. Solid red is bad. It voids the warranty.

As long as the x's are on the phone you are in good shape. Once water comes into contact with the x's they run and form a solid red or pink. This is the easiest way for reps to determine if your phone has been exposed to water and charge you full retail.
