Title, does the 8120 paired with a GPS puck require a data plan in order for the GPS to work?

I'm guessing RIMs own maps won't work, but maybe others?

So far all the mapping/navigation software for bb requires one form of data, they will usually work off a standard data plan and not need a bb-specific data plan but if your lost where theres no signal then your expected to remain lost unfortunately.

You can use other apps like live search mobilegmaps ect but you still need a data plan. There was an app out there can't remember the name that let u save certain maps from a specific area to your memory card but it took a lot of work to get it to work so I just gave up on it. It was on getjar.com
