    Data connection refused

I have had my Pearl for a few weeks now. I originally had the data plan, but I cancelled it two days ago. (I don't really need 24/7 access to e-mail, I am not that important.) Anyway, the phone now shows "Data connection refused" directly under the battery meter. How do I get rid of this? I am concerned that the phone is constantly trying to connect the the internet, thus wearing down my battery. Plus, I just don't want to see that message anymore. I called Tmo and they said it would go away within 24 hours, it hasn't. Is there a setting I can change that will tell the phone to stop searching for internet access?

I don't really think it can be done 'cause BB are not made to work without the data plan....

    Re: Data connection refused

They work fine without the data plan...

But no, you can't get the message to go away. If you can't justify the reasonable prices for the data plan there's no other options really. T-Mobile has some pretty darn good plans for data/voice that are on par with some of their voice only plans. Me and a buddy both got our pearls about a month ago now and he didn't have to pay anything extra at all for his data plan upgrade. He also gets unlimited texts now. I ended up having to pay under $10 more a month, cause I can't get away with only 1000 anytime minutes, so I upgraded to myfaves.

Never said that they didn'T work without a data plan only said that they are design to be USE with a data plan... I think that a BB without data plan is just a fancy toy

    Re: Data connection refused

The phone has a heck of a lot more options that you don't need a data plan for as opposed to needing one. More useful ones in my opinion anyway. I would say the biggest selling points for the Pearl are the Camera and MP3, everything after that is bonus, in my book anyway. Personally I would say the data plan is the "toy" part of the phone, that only savy users are going to get any real use out of.

Sure if you are getting this phone through your business that might be different, but that doesn't seem to be the case here, and it seems to me this phone isn't marketed towards businesses, being it has the camera.

options > network > data services > turn off...
should work and you should have that option even with out a data plan. I would spend the extra $20 and let the pearl do what its ment to do though!

    Re: Data connection refused

I've already posted this in another topic, but here you go.
try deleting any bookmarks you have in the browser, along with all other history and chache. I didnt have much to begin with so I didn't mind deleting that information. If it makes you feel any better do a backup first.

I don't have a data plan but since I've done this I no longer receive that message.

    Re: Data connection refused

    The Best Answer!!!...

Click The "options" Icon, Go To "network", Then Turn The "data Plan" Off...

If You Still See "no Data Plan" On Screen, Click On The "main Screen" Wireless On/off Icon, And Turn It On And Then Off.

That Pointless Message Will Then Go Away, And All You Will See Is "off" Where The Wireless Signal Bars Are. (top Right Of Screen)
