I don't have a data plan (yet), but I'm wondering if there's a way to remove this message from displaying "Data Connection Refused".

    Thanks!

The only way would be to get a data plan, or turn off the antenna. However, turning off the antenna would also disable the phone.

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
Yup, it displays this when it cannot register with the network. Which means no data plan.

Go to Options > Network and set Data Services to Off.

Ok get this ... just transfered phones to a 8100 Pearl ..... other phone had data plan with text for 30 bucks. Now with the 8100 the phone works great for browser and text and even maps. Question. I did not call cingular ... i just switched the SIM card on the phones.... I get that msg showing up but all works fine. Is that normal?

On the flipside, u could call up your service provider and have them link with with their blackberry specialists, they usually walk you through what you have to do. i think you have the same issue i had when i first got my phone, no data plan. Call yr SP (in my case tmobile), they'll hook u up with tzones dataplan free or 19.99 for the detailed RIM plan. either way the 'data connection refused' should disappear after that. good luck

    Re: Data Connection Refused

I just bough my BlackBerry Pearl 8100 off of eBay. I took the sim card out of my old phone & switched it. Works great everything is woderful it just says Data Connection Refused & I can't use the brouser. I just have to call my SP & tell them I swithed?? Will I have any addtional fees?
Also when I turn the phone on it will not say
Data Connection Refused it says AT&T (it's ment to) then it switches.

    Re: Data Connection Refused

For your situation username1o, it depends on whether you switched from a BB to an 8100 or from a regular cell phone to the 8100. If you switched from another BB then you need to log into your BIS (if you had data already) and change the pin. If you switched from a regular phone to the BB then you can either disable the data by following the instructions already posted (
Go to Options > Network and set Data Services to Off.
) or call your carrier and have a BB plan added using the pin from your new phone.
