    Custom Ringtones - Exceptions

I've searched everywhere and haven't been able to find a clear answer so I figured I'd make a post.

I am trying to set custom ring tones for people on my contact list. However, when I set the ring tone it creates an exception under "profiles" for every type of profile, i.e. normal, quiet, vibrate. I only want the ring tones to play in "normal" so that when I switch to quiet it doesn't ring.

I've had no luck in setting it up to work correctly. Whenever someone calls, and the profile is set to quiet, it still rings for that person like it's normal. If I delete the exception it removes the ring tone. I have tried creating an exception from scratch under profiles, still no luck.

    Has anyone figured this out?

    Hello darkseven, Welcome to Pinstack.

If you just go into your address book and edit which ever contact you want with a custom ringtone. Just click on the picture and an option to add a custom Phone Tune should come up.

I have found that to be the easiest way to do it.

Let us know if you need anymore help.

I think the OP already knows how to do that, but the real question is, with all the "exceptions" in the profiles, the phone SOUNDS with the custom ringtone even when the phone is on SILENT and how to stop that.

Set your tones then delete the exceptions see if that works

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~nevermind that last post had a long night
Open the menu on each exception and set for normal instead of active profile

That doesn't work. If I set the profile to "quiet" and someone with a custom ringtone calls, the sound goes off.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com) try this, get rid of all exceptions, make a new exception, make a name for it (whatever you want), press the menu key add a contact, choose a ringtone, set profile to active profile then save
Make sure the quiet profile is set to none for out of holster and mute for volume (same for in holster if you use one)
You should be good to go

darkseven.....well if your phone is set to quiet, then there will be no sound depending on how your profile is set up

you could do Profiles>Advanced>Use Active Profile Except for - Important Calls

    Re: Custom Ringtones - Exceptions

Nope, none of those solutions worked for me.

I only want my custom tones to ring in my normal profile. If I set the phone to quiet, I want it to stay quiet but it doesn't. The exceptions override the profile. If I set the exception to work only with "Normal" it still goes off in quiet mode.

Within the quiet profile everything is setup not to make a sound.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~when set in the silent mode remove check marks next to the exceptions. It will no longer make it go off. Save the changes. When you switch back to normal mode the exceptions should be checked still. Each profile can be customized separately from the others and it will save options for each profile.hope this helps
