~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ strange, although I have the 8100...when I am in contacts I just push the 2 for y, and it brings up anything that starts with t and y.

    Re: Contact Search

Yeah I have the same problem. What I do is this...with the key "ER", if you are trying to get R just press it once and get E press delete and press E once again and it should become R.

    I re-read my post and I think it's confusing. I'll try again

    E. Delete. E. -The 2nd time it should show up as R.

    Re: Contact Search

Well it does bring up all o fthe name that have the letter T as the start of their last name, then all the name with the letter T as the start of their first name, problem is I have to scroll through 10 screens to get to the Y's.

It does not work typing the letter T hitting delete and then getting the letter Y, you just get the letter T again

    Re: Contact Search

You can also spell the 1st couple letters of the name so you don't have to scroll through 10 people. Keep trying getting used to SureType takes time and can be frustrating but once you learn it, it's a piece of cake

    Re: Contact Search

Iwish I could spell the first couple of letters of the name, but it will not let me get past the letter T even with the Sure Type. Example my last name starts with YEZ, to get to any of my relatives I get Tyez, "nothing found", TYT, "nothing found", TTYT, etc.

Just got the phone Saturday and I love it except this is a little frustrating. Just hoping for a solution

Verizon Solution - youve got to be kidding

    Here is the Verizon Solution:

    Address book

    Press the space key
    Press the letter T
    Press the space key
    Search changes to letter Y
Press the center of the trackball - contact detail comes up
    Press the back button
    Press the space key
Search starts with the letter Y

Someone please tell me there is an easier way???????

    Re: Contact Search

Are you guys on multitap or suretype??

Im on multitap and when im in my address book all i have to do is hit any letter key twice fast to get the second letter...

If your on suretype then i have no idea, but from experience i know that its hard to master suretype so i stick with multitap...

    Re: Contact Search

Maybe you can try setting the key rate differently to what it is now? It's in settings-screen/keyboard and down the bottom. I find if I have it on slow it sometimes doubles up on some keys (IE thinks I'm only trying ot hit the first letter twice). I use multitap and don;t have any problems with it, not sure if it's different to the 8130.

    Re: Contact Search

You could try the search function. Its the icon with the A and the mag glass. I only was told about it a while ago and use it all the time.

    Hope this helps

    Re: Contact Search

I've discovered a two handed solution after hours of playing around.

    Hold the letter key down
Roll the track ball to the L/R
The letters change, when you get the letter you want, press the trackball

Its not perfect but its the best solution so far. Thanks to all for the feedback.
