it is charged, and while charged and when it is not charged it just shuts down, there is a sand clock that appears and loads back to the main menu.
and when i try to go back to the wizard setup, it shuts down again. and the sand clock appears, and main menu again.
just browsing around the menu it shuts down and takes a few minutes to restart.
it's so frustrating and it's brand new!!

Your BB is faulty, take it back and get it replaced.

i have had my Curve for about two years and heretofore, it has worked fine...So, i hope someone can answer i9kim's question.
....i am having a similar problem with my Curve 8320.
Battery strength is fine..i even took the battery out for a few minutes...also un-installed and reinstalled latest OS.
It will reboot and show the prompt that my phone is locked but when i click the keys, nothing happens and then it shuts down.
When i plug in the power adapter, it shows the screen again and the software being read but it shuts down again.
When i unplug it from the adapter, it shows that i need to input my password but the keys don't work and then, yes, it shuts down.

Izzy, do you have a media card and did you do the upgrade with it in the device?

Yeah, it definitely sounds like a faulty device. Which one did you get?

Take it out and see if the rebooting stops. If it does stop rebooting (probably will), offload your media off the card, reseat it in the device and reformat it in the device. Then you can move your stuff back to the card. If you still have the problem, you probably have some corrupt data on the card and we'll cross that bridge if we get to it.

    Cheers,
    Roger

Try pulling the battery while the power's on, wait 30 seconds and then replace it, let it power up and see what happens.
