    Considering purchasing Pearl 8110

Hello im new to this site

I am very interested in purchasing a Pearl 8110. I currently have the Treo 680. The phone is to large and as well as it is, hardware wise (I dropped the phone 3 times and works). i find the software to be very glichy and crashes a lot. Not to mention im not a big fan of the OS. My wife has the 8100 and it seems to be a nice phone. I find the menus to be a little basic in the text/DOS look and the Calendar is not all that nice to use, compaired to the Treo. But i am looking for somthing smaller, and somthing that will give me a couple years of good use. I take very good care of my phones, but i have been reading around the net and found a lot of ppl who have lots of problems with the Pearl, either the keys, trackball, or software issues. I do like the Suretype on the pearl compared to the QWERTY on the Treo. Basically im looking for some insite on the phone from users.

    Thanks

    Re: Considering purchasing Pearl 8110

hey geekbyte, I don't use an 8110, but for someone who is on their first BlackBerry, I must say that these are great phones (well not just phones, but quality devices)!!

I totally recommend either of the smaller BlackBerry's (8100, 8110, 8130), they all have their perks!! But most of all, they're fun and easy to use, Just like any other device, there are occasions where you'll run into a little problem...but that's where this site comes into play, the people here are very helpful and we all will do our best to help you out of your stressful situation(s)!!

So, YES, buy a BlackBerry....you'll be VERY HAPPY!! and soon addicted just like the rest of us.

I'm sure if you google'd BlackBerry 8110, 8100 & 8130, you can find a good review/article/blog on them for better over view of the phone/device!!

GOOD LUCK!! and I'm sure we'll see you around the stacks...

    Thank you for your reply

The phone does look really cool and has a lot of nice features. I am really considering this phone over anything else that Rogers has to offer.

I have had the 8130 for about a month and half now and have had no issues with the phone. It works great, is small enough to fit in your pocket, and the suretype was easy enough for me to learn the first day. It does pretty much everything that I expected it to do and more . Remember that you can always return it after you purchase it within a specified time which would give you enough info on whether or not you'll like it. And as always there are plenty of threads here at Pinstack to help you make an informed decision.

I have had an 8100 for nearly 18 months and had no issues with the trackball, keyboard or device software. The only reason(s) I went for the 8320 was #1 WIFI and #2 QWERTY, and I seriously considered holding out for the 8120 (with wifi).
