Connectivity and SD problem with BlackBerry 8120

When it was new I connected my pearl to the Desktop manager and was able to synchronize all my contacts with outlook express. That was about a week ago. Yesterday I received my 4gb kingston micro sd card and put it into my device. It will not recognize that I have a card inside. It just says:

a media card is not presently inserted in the device

I tried formatting the card in my laptop but obviously that did not help. I cant format in the pearl because the pearl doesnt know it's in there. I do know that the card is a good one though as an htc handheld was able to access it and my dell was able to access it.

Second issue is that now it won't connect via USB to my desktop manager anymore. Also the wifi can't turn on. It says:

    Unable to turn Wi-Fi on

Is there anything I can try? Or did I get a lemon?

For the SD card, make sure that you have Media Card Support set to ON

You MUST format this card in your phone. Not your laptop.

For the other issues did you recently install or change anything? Is WiFi enabled under Mange Connections? If so, turn off your device. Remove the batttery for 30 seconds, and reinstall the battery and see if that gives you back your WiFi.

Thanks for the quick reponse GaryF.

I installed opera mini, and a game that i have since removed. I also installed blinkberry after this all started.

Regarding the SD card I know that it must be formatted in the phone but my phone will not recognize that there is a card inside of it.

Wifi is enabled. but it will not stay enabled. it keeps reverting to off.

I just took out the battery to see if that helps.

What do you know! it recognizes the media card now. Formatting failed on the first try but worked on the second. Thats a good step in the right direction.

    Wifi works also!

    Thanks a million

Trying to connect with desktop manager now. I am sure it will work.

    Thanks again.

The magic of removing and re-inserting the battery on a BB.

I had similiar issues on my 8120 out of the box with things acting a lil weird but a battery pull solved all.
