Are there any mp3 music services that are compatible with the Pearl without first burning to a CD? Rhapsody, unfortuneately, is not. Thanks for suggestions. Bill

No DRM-using music service will be compatible with the Pearl out of the box. This rules out iTMS, Yahoo! Music, Rhapsody, Napster, Urge and all the rest. eMusic will work, as they provide unencumbered mp3s I believe. AllOfMP3 isn't exactly a music service, per se, but audio files downloaded from there would work with the Pearl.

i use a pay per site (actually like $30 for unlimited lifetime downloads and $9 add on for movie downloads)...if you want the site name, please PM me...I really don't believe in too much FREE advertising. it is like any other music download service...you dl the MP3's to your hard-drive and then transfer them via USB cable to your Pearl. (this site also 'claims' to have virus protection and in fact caught one before i fully downloaded it.)

as for putting music in MP3 form, do you mean WITH your Pearl? not sure about that, but you can use Windows Media Player to convert WAV file to MP3.

I dunno if I should or can post this here, but will give it a try.

They aren't going to care or come after you if you are downloading music or videos. They could care less (unless the actual material itself is illegal).

What the music and movie companies are mad about are those who HOST the files, not those who are downloading it.

I use P2P and Bit Torrent services. Kazaa, BearShare, TrustyFiles, IpodNova, TorrentSpy, etc.

However, when you get done downloading them, move them to an unshared folder on your computer, or choose to not have them be "Shareable" so that noone can upload them, and you will be in the clear. Or just burn them to CD and remove them from your computer all together. Then do what you need to do with them.

Like I said, they don't care about the average user, such as ourselves, downloading the material and using it for our own viewing/listening.

The people they are concerned about are those who are supplying the material to be downloaded.

If you read the FBI it states" The Unauthorized reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal".

Downloading it is neither reproduction OR distribution.

Don't worry about the FEDS coming knocking if you are downloading it (like i said, unless the material itself is illegal), but be concerned if you have 50GB of downloaded material that you are letting others upload.

Hosting it for others to download IS distribution.

However this has been explained many times, see if you can find it using hte pinstack search function if not head over to google.com and search for CONVERTING CDS INTO MP3.

Re: Compatible Music Services (without burning a CD)?

I have managed to load from my desktop onto my Pearl music purchased and also converted from CDs I have loaded and have varying success...mostly unsuccess! Only 2 out of 10 will play with error messages like the following: "Media being played is of an unsupported format" also "Unable to display file" which comes with .....rax type files...I really don't know what to do...All my music on my desktop I own from my own cds or I purchased on line via real player...ideas?
