    Colored acrylic or plastic trackball

With all the developers and BB vendors that read these forums, why hasn't someone made transparent colored trackballs to replace the original one?

That way we could all have colored trackballs like the 8100 by replacing ours and the LED light would light the colored trackball!

Any thoughts on if this would be a good idea?

Hopefully others read this and feel the same way and know a guy who knows a guy that this could become a reality. I know I'd buy them!

Something that doesn't turn different colors the moment you touch it would be nice!

Buy different colored trackballs for that. I'd buy several. Blue, green, red. As long as they were like a clearish color it'd be sweet.

I agree, and that's why they would have to be simi transparent to let the LED show through to make the trackball appear colored while lit. I would love it!

Anyone have a contact a RIM?

Maybe we could pass the information on to a developer at RIM and see if that's all it took was the fact RIM didn't know we BB users would like to have colored trackballs to replace the original so we can have lit colored ones.
If anyone has another idea please tell me and I'll go forward and do the leg work if needed to get more info or to the right people.

Ok never thought of that! That's good if possible. Have you done it or know someone? What do you use? I'll do it tonight to one of my trackballs and see how it works and post results with pics.

No Takers? Colored acrylic or plastic trackball

So I guess that's it, a couple replies and then this thread is dead.

Bummer, I was really hoping for a solution for us BB fans or at least an idea of how to stain or dye a trackball.

Either way if anyone reads this and still would like to reply with any options it would be great.

    Thanks

My wifes brother works at a high end jewelry store and he said all he needs is to get a track balls measurement and he could get something out of it in onyx or ruby or saphire lots but the cost would run from $20-$1000. I think it would be cool to have a VS1 in there!
