Color Pearl for 4.5: Cobble-it-together guide

Here's a way to get your trackball colored with 4.5 on the Pearl 8100 (this may work for other phones as well).

    TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK!

    1-Install Color Pearl.
2-Go to the Color Pearl Menu
3-Change color to White and status to Enabled
4-Press the Escape key and chose Save. Your trackball should light up (all LEDS) and you should stay in the Color Pearl menu.
5-Press the Escape key again, this time chose Discard. The trackball LEDs should stay on.
    6-Remove the trackball CAREFULLY!
7-Cut a tiny sliver of electrical tape and place it over the LED of your choice with tweezers. You can make color combos this way. Be sure to cover it completely without covering the trackball's contact point.
8-Replace the trackball. Make sure it lines up with the clip connector things.

TADA! If I explained myself correctly, you should have a working Color Pearl for 4.5!

Bugs: The external LED on the top right will sometimes stay on for no reason. This happens to me; it's not too bad.

I am not responsible for any damage that results to your phone as a result of trying this method. Just for the record.

    Happy Stacking!

.....I think it's too much to risk. I'll just wait for a program that does what colorpearl did to non 4.5s

Oh. I see the cons now red_5. Possible damage as well as an icky mess. It gets to well over 120F in a parked car down here in SoFlo lol. But a good quick run down nonetheless. Thanks!

WOW...I'm not the only one that wants colorpearl on OS 4.5 this bad. I keep praying that the creator updates colorpearl for OS 4.5. I had posted a thread about this already and I believe the guy who created colorpearl can be reached at crackberry.com and will possibly update colorpearl for a small fee...however I do not have a credit card or any way to pay him to do this for me. So I will wait....I want OS 4.5 too but I love my colorpearl...it makes my phone unique when I match it with a case and none of my friends have colorpearl.

Maybe I'll use scotch tape covered in permanent marker.

Well I was kinda sorta hypothetically speaking hehe. But I thought there might be a chance that the elec tape glue could make a mess.

I was under the impression it was supposed to be fire retardant. I think it's the duct tape that melts like crazy.

When I read the post I thought it was a joke. I thought the "bug" that was pointed out was one of the main reasons people couldn't use it on 4.5.
