Cingular will give you your unock code

I just got off the phone with cingular and they are going to e-mail me my unlock code for my pearl.
they said that it will take about 5 days.
I just told them that I was traveling out of the country and wanted to be able to use a prepaid sim while I was there.
They didnt ask me any questions, just said they would put the request through and it would take 5 days to receive.
I have heard that you have to wait about 90 days, but I have only had the phone for about 2 weeks now and they didnt seem concerned.

Just figured i would share this as I see people wanting to know how to unlock their phones, and other people paying for it all the time.
Why pay for it if you can get done for free.

I will post an update after successfully unlocking the phone when I get the e-mail.

Thanks for sharing John. I have heard that quite a few people have been having success lately with Cingular unlocking their BB's. Let us know how it works out and if they deliver in the promised time.

BTW, I really didnt need it unlocked, but I wanted to see if cingular would be as helpful as other companies such as tmobile. And let everyone know about it of they are.

Re: Cingular will give you your unock code

just got my unlock code in e-mail from cingular today.
punched it in and all is good, my pearl is unlocked now.
So, to let everyone know, cingular will give you your unock code at no charge if you simply call them and ask for it.
I was also only 2 weeks into my contract when I called and requested it, so I dont think they have a 90 day waiting period like other companies.
    Hope this helps everyone out.

your phone will function exactly as it did before.
By unlocking it, it allows you to be able to use it on another carrier.
So you could switch to another cell company.
or if you were traveling out of the country you could purchase and use a prepaid sim to use while you were there.

Thats really the only reason you need to unlock a phone.
I really only did it to see if cingular would give it to you without any hassle and let everyone know about it.
So the people that need their phones unlocked do not have to pay for an unlocking service.

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
That's that mean that the IPhone can get unlock and then use in another carrier?
