    Re: Charging Questions

I charge mine every two days. Usually at 20-25%. I started using the auto on/off feature and seems like I can get more juice with that.

Allot! It seems the more I use the more I charge. My battery runs out fast.

    Re: Charging Questions

Most cell phones these days use Lithium-Ion batteries. It's actaully better to charge them at any time, even if they don't need it. My 8700 sits in it's cradle all day charging....it won't damage the battery or it's performace.
The 'myth' that it's bad to over charge or to charge when the battery isn't low came from the days where NiCad batteries were used. Those types of batteries had a 'memory' and if you didn't drain them completley before Charging again they would loose some life.
    Hope that helps!
Some people will argue this point...thats fine...

    Re: Charging Questions

I believe I read that our BB Pearl had a life of 300 charges - this is why I'm hesitant to charge it when the battery is not low.

    Any ideas?

    Re: Charging Questions

That'd be the battery not the device itself. And from what I recally, lithium ion batteries prefer to be topped up vs. put through full discharge cycles. The 300 charges "lifetime" is an estimate of course, it isn't going to suddenly quit the 301st time you put it on the charger. I have an 18 month old Treo 650 that goes on the charger every night and it's been just fine.

In the worst case you might end up having to buy a new battery in a couple of years. Chances are you'll probably upgrade to a new phone before you'll kill the battery from charging it too many times.

Not sure about Ipod mini as I don't have one.

But Ni-cad is definetly a thing of the past look for lithium-polymer next I believe.
