The convenience buttons are great, but they just start a program.

Can I program a hot key combination or a convenience button itself to do some scripted tasks?
Specifically, I would like to turn on/off bluetooth, without going into the "Manage Connections", select bluetooth, say turn on, get out.

    Thanks

I'm not aware of any application that allows you to do that.

You could program a convenience key, but that's about it.

    Unfortunately that cannot be done.

However I think that would be a great suggestion to send to RIM.

    Cheers

Ok... What you want, basically macros, aren't possible. However, with Bluetooth, there is an icon for on/off. If you don't see it go to the home menu, show all and unhide the other Bluetooth icon.

Yes I found the icon. The matter is simply to be able to turn bluetooth on with the touch of a single button (one single action). Not to fiddle by going into menus and selecting options. So its seems it cannot be done. We'll just leave it to RIM to indulge us.

You can have one of the side keys set to open Bluetooth connections. options>screen and keyboard>scroll down to "right side convenience key opens">click the trackball and scroll down to "set up bluetooth">click the trackball again and disable bluetooth. It's not a hotkey but it does cut down on going through the icon. Thats about as close as it gets.

thanks for the answers, I would have preferred a "hit the button once" and that's it. Well, maybe they will come up with something like that in an updated OS.
