    Does anyone know of a way to turn the flash on by itself so it can be used as a flashlight?

    U cannot turn the flashlight on, unless through some third party software, but I havent heard of anything yet.

    It is not designed to be on more than for the Flash to take a picture. It is a Flash, not a flashlight. Your battery would last about two minutes.

    There is a program on Handango.com that lets you control the LED, but I have not seen anthing to control the flash, Like Rcbjr said, leaving the flash on would kill the battery.

    Someone needs to design a program to easily turn on and off the LED. That would be really nice!

    i wish it would. it was very helpful to me when i would come to my dorms late at night and my roommate(s) would be asleep.

    here'a program i found that turns the screen bright white for a "flashlight" and black (like turning it off i suppose) for a "mirror"

    Looks kinda cool, but I don't know if I wanna go screwing things up with 3rd party apps just yet....
