Not all phones can turn off the picture capture sound. Its a huge privacy issue, so it is known a picture is being taken. I don't need to say why, you can all imagine.

I didn't think about that. I hate having buttons that make noises. I have everything else turned off except for that.

    BlackBerry Pearl Camera Shutter Noise

I have figured out how to get around the camera's shutter noise

Fastest time that I've taken a picture using this method has been 5 seconds.
    Follow these steps...

    1. Activate the camera
    2. Click on the menu button (button that's next to the place call button)
    3. Click on Call Voice Mail
    4. Press the back arrow button (press ok to continue call)
    5. Activate camera again "Now you have a silent camera"

Only negative thing using my method would be that you'd be using your minutes while you are taking the picture. Make sure to disconnect the call when you're done.

    Enjoy!

Also a quick little footnote...gotta plug my website here...

I have tried this method and had no luck. I tried it several ways....
I know that if you do this step by step, you do not have a "Call Voice Mail" from your menu button after activating the camera. Does this mething completly remove the sound? or does it mute it a little?

    thanks

That's weird that you do not get the menu that will allow you to place a call while the camera is active. Try this.

    1. Place call to your voice mail.
    2. press the back button (hit ok to continue call)
    3. activate camera

It does not completly mute sound. It will play shutter noise through the receiver section of the phone at least it's not through the speaker. If you have the receiver set to high you can hear a little sound...you can counter this by just lowering the volume on the side of the phone.

What's the deal with this? Every few weeks someone tries to figure this one out. The sound never really bothers me. And most of the time the noise of where I'm at drowns it out. Is it me or does anyone else think this isn't a big deal?

I'm with you red! LOL! The only time it bugs me is when I am trying to take a pic of my kids sleeping....cause the sound will wake them up sometimes.
