nope...won't find a mobile phone without the shutter sound

there are work-arounds (like calling vm and turning volume down) ...

    Welcome to Pinstack!!!

And sorry to disappoint you...but no so far there is way to shut off the shutter sound that I know of. I know there are some threads that say you can delete the file that the sound plays from...but that just sounds a bit dangerous to mess with root programming like that.

ok for starters. it is actually a regulation that RIM is governed by that prohibits them from making the shutter sound to be disabled by the user. basically the govt believes if you need to turn off the shutter sound then you must be doing something that you dont want other ppl to hear, basically to keep the perverts away.

second as for deleting the sound files in the java modules, its not possible anyway. the camera is coded so that all the sound modules MUST be present for the camera to even work at all. the only work arounds i know of are calling vm or putting headphones on.

thanks, i appreciate the responses. I just find the sound annoying. I know that other manufactures phone allow the user to turn it on or off or change the type of sound completely.
