if a recieve a text from somebody it comes up with their name and number etc then displays the text, if a recieve another message form this number the next day or whenever it does not show up as their name only their number, it then attachs itself to previous text messages???? how do you stop this/can you stop this?
the same happens on missed/recieved calls, they call and the name display comes up, you miss them again or they call again only their number comes up?????

    thanks

i was wondering the same thing. i notice if i send a text to someone from my address book, it will show up as their name, but if they respond, it will show the number.

the only thing i can think of (and i haven't tried it, or even know if it would do this) but i entered my phones numbers in the address book as "(###) ###-####" -- when they show up as just a number, they are displayed as +1-###-###-####.

so i'm wondering, since it comes in formatted different, is the phone not recognizing the number from my address book?? anyone have any input??

    Yes, I get this too

Yep, I get this - It's so annoying.

I'd receive texts from numbers (that i recognise) and that are in my address book but it would show +4477xxxxxxxx etc.

I decided to change the phonebook entry for my contact from 077xxxxxxxx to +4477xxxxxxxx

and then the text messages showed the name.

Then, I'd get a phone call from the contact and that would show as 077xxxxxxxx and not the name !!!!

The only solution I can find is to have the contact with both 077xxxxxxxx and +4477xxxxxxxx

    Which is a rubbish solution....

if there is a way to fix this then I'd definitely be glad to hear about it - I suspect they'd need to update the software, has anyone raised (or know how to raise) this issue to RIM/Blackberry ??

    Andy

This has driven me mad. I am not going to enter two phone numbers for every mobile in my address book, Blackberry, get your *** in gear!

Anyone have any experience of this intelligent dialing setting that knighty talks about?

blackberry does have their "stuff" in gear.

go in your call log. click. go to options and it will be under smart dialing

Prioryman, Could you provide a link to those old replies. Sometimes the Search Engine misses some solutions if you don't have the Keywords correct. It can get quite frustrating.

    Thanks

Was having this problem myself. Did as mentioned above Call Log --> Options --> Smart Dialling. Changed country code to +44 and as if by magic all my messages / missed calls had the name and not the number.

    Thanks guys!
