My cousin just gave me his broken Pearl and I'm trying to fix it. the ... BlackBerry Pearl forum
My cousin just gave me his broken Pearl and I'm trying to fix it. the problem seems to be when i turn it on I get a blank white screen and i cant do anything else. Im a little new at the whole Blackberry thing and Im a little lost as how to try to fix it.
does it show hourglass on the white screen?
did u try to wait for like 10 minutes?
if you didn, try it, it might be loading.
That is the dreaded White Screen Of Death. It's pretty much toast. Somebody did a thread saying he got it going again by taking apart and pushing something back in place, but I couldn't get mine to work.
No theres no hourglass just a white screen. Riff do you have a link to the other thread. I'm not really risking anything by taking it apart if its dead already.
Try this and see if it gets it going again > http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...connected.html
Edit: Gary's suggestion is probably the best one available for your situation. I know my 8100 gave me many heart stopping issues, but it's still working fine even when I thought it was a gonner. This was the procedure I used to fix it each time, but if there is physical damage, then the above post is your best bet.

The thread I was thinking of was this one, also by jeffallen8:
I say go for it! Hope it comes back to like for you!!!
White Screen of Death
More than likely this is a hardware problem that you are not going to be able to fix -- sounds like the thin connector that joins the pearl's screen to the board has become disconnected -- this tends to happen if you apply a fair amount of pressure to the pearl's screen (i.e. having it in your back pocket and sitting on it). If it's not under warranty then its toast ... sorry.
Just an update- since I posted last on this thread I was able to fix my Pearl's WSOD by replacing the LCD itself, so if all else fails, try that. Good luck!

Also check that the cable isn't damaged
