    Bringing Back the Vista Discussion

I'm in the market for a new computer. All PC's now come with Vista. I am excited about Vista because I've read alot about it. However, as a Blackberry lover I am worried about the connectivity between Vista and my Pearl. Does anyone have any information about this?

On another note, I saw someone had OS .71. Does anyone have a link? Thanks.

Does the bluetooth work better with Vista? I've heard Vista is supposed to be better. XP had major issues with bluetooth.

i got a vistas ready laptop when it first came out, and i'm having some issues....sometimes my pearl or computer gets an error and dissconnnects on its own, even after i got the update for the desktop service pack 1. i think it mainly has to do with the vistas, since now every company is trying to scramble to get their products to be vistas compatible. just warning you, some of my stuff like programs and applications that i want to transfer over from my xp has issues and wont even load or has bugs, so just be prepared...i know in due time there will be all these service packs and drivers that will fix it, but since its new, just gotta wait, so in the meanwhile i go back and forth with my xp and vistas laptop. dont get me wrong vistas is awesome, it just needs time to develope.

Re: Bringing Back the Vista Discussion

i had issues with the installation of DM, i was using 4.2 SP1 also, but the install took forever, im talking 2 hours or so for no apparent reason, i also had to right click the EXE file and choose "Run as Administrator" even with UAC disabled.

BT sync works properly, only for synching though, cant access the media card or load programs which sucks horribly.

Syncs properly with Outlook 2003, HOWEVER since Outlook Express doesnt exist in vista, choosing that option in sync properties will screw up the prog and crash the program during a sync.

I'm basically waiting now for RIM to release a version for syncing with Windows Mail and Windows Calendar so i dont have to buy Office 2007 standard, since Outlook 2007 Student/Teacher doesnt have outlook, but thats another rant.

As a side note I have XP Pro x64 (the 64 bit edition of XP) and if you plan on developing themes you might run into problems. Plazmic Theme Developer only runs on W2k and XP (32 bit editions). I don't think it will run on Vista, Windows 2003 and I know it won't run on my XP Pro x64.

I tried all the compatibility modes as well.

The Java Development software installs and runs fine though

Thanks for the info guys. I'll be able to backup my BB on old computers if I have to. My main concern is definately the BT Dialup networking. Being able to connect when there is no wifi to be seen.
