Have to agree with ffmike. I'd make it a Cingular device. Not that I have anything against T-Mobile. It's just that if it were Cing I could get one on the 12th. Lol.

    Mac OS X desktop manager.

    iTunes player and iTunes integration.

    Heck, full Mac integration.

(But that would be my wish for all BlackBerries.)

And, a SIM card and memeory card which can be removed WITHOUT pulling the battery. (The Moto V66 could do this, and it was a great feature!)

I'm always swapping the SIM to use other devices for when I don't want/need work email (outdoors, out for dinner, weekend life). It's a real pain to be forced to reboot the device every swap! Turning off the wireless radio should allow for SIM removal without messing up the connection to the network. Boot time is minutes, not seconds, as with most other plain-phone mobiles.

i would keep the 7100 form factor but spread the keys out. Sorta like the 7100g. Also It doesnt look as sturdy as the older blackberrys. I would be afraid to drop it. Having said that I would make sure it would be able to withstand a fall, just in case.....lol

Re: Blackberry Pearl - what would you change about it?

I wouldn't change much, but there are a few things like I would add the option to record video for one not just play it or stream it. Another thing is I would add wi-fi, why someone has not come out with a wi-fi balckberry(a newer one anyway)I dont know. Last but not least the glossy finish has got to go, i have dopped my 7100t many times with out much damage. Other than that looks like a nice phone, but mostly made for average consumers who just want a camera and multimedia.
I'm true to the game called Blackberry!

I would change the release date to 3 months ago, which is when I bought my 8700.

I would have changed the release date to March 2006. When I got my 7105t.

Re: Blackberry Pearl - what would you change about it?

I think it's probably fine as is, but for an enterprise version, I'd change a few things.

Flat black finish. I dont want a shiny BB. Bad enough the 8700c is silver. Save the bling for the consumer versions. If possible, rubberized like the lid on the ThinkPad 600E was.

No Camera, put an SD Slot (are they really that short on size?) on the side, not under the battery n-gage style.

Unlocked by default so you could just pop in a Cingular or T-Mobile SIM and go.

Put the wheel back, at least on the non camera version. We get enough how-to calls as is. No need to go futzing with what works well. However, a dust shield around the wheel would be a godsend. Seriously. My users must be made of lint or something.

Now, it doesn't actually say "Pearl" on it, or does it? You could always give it a paint job and stencil in "stealth".

I would add GPS. A decent GPS.

jesus people are picky. the media streaming would be nice, but who cares really, the bb is still a PROFESSIONAL device, not meant for REAL consumers, and streaming would allow for viruses. having said that the media card being swappable without removing the battery would be nice, but i think for being a first it is the marry poppins of bb's

I am not a professional and I have been using the BlackBerry for 4 years. It's nice to see them incorporating new features into the device.
