Just think of the sidekick as a cool Honda its fun and all but the pearl is a shinny new BMW sports coupe with real class!

Now that I'm convinced that I will love the BB, I need information on the Blackberry Pearl plan compared to the Sidekick plan. I have the sidekick plan now, with all the features that is on the sidekick (unlimited texting, web browsing, Instant Messenger). I'd like to be able to do the same with the BB and not be spending more money each month for the plan. It seems like the salesman might have left this part out.

Well I'm not exactly sure how the Sidekick Plan works. Is it just an add-on feature that you add-on to a voice plan? If I'm seeing correctly then the Sidekick Data plan is $29.99 and the Blackberry Data is $19.99. I guess it would be $10 bucks cheaper from this point of view then.

    I use to have:Plan A
    Get More 600 = 39.99
    add-on 400 SMS/MMS = 4.99
    add-on BB Data = 19.99
    Roadside Assistance = 2.99

    Grand Total(before taxes) = 67.96

    Currently: Plan B
    Blackberry Minutes and Mail 1000 = 59.99
    Roadside = 2.99

Grand total (before taxes) = 62.98

After taxes it's all about the same. Maybe saving a few dollars with the BB Minutes & Mail plan. Although I don't use alot of minutes, I do use alot of SMS/MMS and with the BB minutes plan you get unlimited. Which helps alot in my case.

    Plan A:
600 minutes unlimited nights and weekends
    400 SMS/MMS
    Unlimited Data
    Roadside

    Plan B:
    1000 minutes
    Unlimited SMS/MMS
    Unlimited Data
    Roadside

Sorry a bit long winded. Hope this helps.

p.s. I just switched plans too, so not sure about the exact savings on my end. It's about $10 bucks in my calculations.

    Re: Blackberry Pearl Vs. Sidekick

with TMO i pay 50 bucks a month for all my goodies (with insurance)

so i didn't know that the sidekick can't send pics that you take via mms

    pearl rules the land.

i work in a call center and i keep an eye out for new tech. I always see
people with cool phones (blackjack, SDA, PALM, Sidekick, etc...)
I non-chalantley ask them " ooooo what kind of phone do you have?"
after they give me the run down and ask what kind i have, i bust out the
pearl.........and they all reply the same way........ I WISH I Would have
    gotten the Blackberry.....
heheheheh sneaky me, i just love when people oogle my phone over theirs
    i'm evil

That's how I am. I busy out my pearl and they are all like "another phone? Wow! This one is really cool"
    and then I reply "BALLIN!"
    lol.jk I don't say that.

I might go for that plan B. I text way more than I use minutes. I share 1000 minutes with my mom and stepdad and we never go over. I should go into the store and talk to them about this more. I don't want my mom paying more for our service because I wanted a new phone. I hope getting the unlimited internet/Instant Messaging/Text messaging won't be more than the sidekick's plan.

i had a sidekick 3 i loved it for awhile. Once i got my blackberry pearl , the sidekick couldnt even compare to the bb pearl. When i first got my pearl i played with it for like, the whole night basically. Its light unlike the sidekicks. trust me . its worth the trade.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ The sidekick plan can be used with or without a voice package. I used it both ways. Its $29.99 but when I had it as an AddOn feature to my current plan it was $20.
