Blackberry Pearl Roller Ball Won't Move Down - it goes up and side-to-side. I tried cleaning it with a can of air and read other suggestions on thread then tried them but nothing is working - any repair places in Orange County California ???

Probably dirt or lint. What i do is lock the keyboard>push the stand by key then with a little pressure i push down on the trackball and quickly move it all different directions. Hope this helps

You could always pull the battery, remove the ball, and then hit it with the canned air. I use the compressor at my work for the roller on mine.

    Good luck.

Also try a little bit of rubbing alchohol on a qTip and give it a good rub down. Some times that little bit of moisture will grab the lint from underneath the ball.

Or if you are a smoker take a very small amount (and I mean tiny amount) of cigarette ash and roll it in your trackball. Works every time for me. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Usually the case for me is the same. A bit of pressure while scrolling and the debris comes free. Good luck. Regards chAd. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

You know many might not agree with me, but I have found that the pearl ball stops getting grip and is loose. So what I did was get some dirt in there but literally getting some on my thumb and getting it in there by scrolling the ball around. Whether ne one believes me or not it worked and my pearl ball got grip again.

    Thanks!

Your solution was what worked for me too. After a while I finally realized that the roller ball is moving, but as you said, its not getting that grip. Thanks again.

my trackball has gotten stuck before, but I've never had to do anything besides just push it in and move it around a few times...this has worked on two 8100's.

OP: Have you taken out the trackball assembly to clean it, or are you just blowing compressed air on the phone?

    try this http://forums.pinstack.com/f78/track...ictures-38395/
i do not suggest putting dirt ino the trackball, this can wear the sensor and create serious permanent damage.

You wouldn't if you had a Bold... :P

Seriously, it shouldn't need to be cleaned that often unless you're carrying it in your lint-ridden pocket all the time. My Pearl needed it about every month or two, but that was just with removing the trackball assembly and blowing on it.
