My blackberry pearl doesnt take .cod files it only takes .alx / .ali files. What can I do to correct this?

Also my phone has not been downloading OTA software, and I dont know if I'm doing something wrong or if there is a problem with the files.

Re: Blackberry doest take .cod files

The .alx file is what tells the BlackBerry what .cod files to load. If you use the application loader with the desktop manager, you'll only be able to see .alx files.

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

The cod file will always be hidden when using dm to install apps. I'm tech challenged myself so that's the only way I can explain it the alx file is what you need when loading using dm.

When loading OTA it must be a jad or jar file and must be done from the bb. Sometimes you may try a battery pull/soft reset to activate the app.

I've found some success in converting JAD files into 2 files [ALX & COD].
By downloading a 'JAD converter' and producing paired ALX & COD files, you can load the application onto your Pearl using the Blackberry Desktop Manager.

Downloading JAD/JAR games and applications on my laptop, then converting and uploading them to my Pearl, has saved me lots of OTA data usage costs.
