There is no release date on the 8120 yet.. It didn't come out today like many of us had thought! They are goin to release a 8820 which will bring GPS and wifi but no media player! That should come sometime in March! As to the 8120, we probably won't be getting that til late March or sometime in the middle of April.

Anybody else really pissed at T-mobile right now? As if 8 months between software updates wasn't bad enough...

No. We will have the new 8800 series phone early March, the Pearl 2 is launching in april according to my RIM contact as I stated in earlier posts in this thread. In addition, the software update soon after. And you cant be mad at T-Mobile and software updates, they come from RIM, not from us. WE are waiting on them just like you are. Still upset?? Write your congressman lol.

I'm not trying to dis the guys who sign your paycheck, Jstodda. I'm just lamenting the fact that their interest in getting the most money out their overstock stock of old 8100s and my interest in acquiring a new 8120 are at odds. This probably keeps the executive payroll nice and fat, but I don't feel it's in the best interest of their long-time pearl customers (admittedly probably a small share of their overall income). I feel T-mobile does a great job with many aspects of their business, just not this one. And I know that they have a lot more leverage with RIM than I do when it comes to software updates. When my two years expire, it might be time for a change of pace.

Well spoken. The 8820 will be blue in color and the PEarl 2 more than likely will be grey (t mobile grey)

8820 will not have a media player? Why will tihs phone be better than the Curve? Because of GPS? So this will have no camera and no media player, but has GPS? I will be buying a new BB next month with Tmo and need to know if I should just buying the Curve. What is the difference between the 800 and 8820.

Don't get the Curve. It is very poorly built. You will find many people who like it and then of course those who do not. It will be up to you to ultimately decide, but moreover the Pearl is the best value and phone made by RIM.

The Curve is poorly built? That's the first time I heard that arguement lol. I don't own a Curve but I wondered how the build quality of it was. I had a Pearl which I loved and It did take a few falls and the rails got somewhat loose but it was mostly because it fell on concrete which was the major fall. So are you saying the Curve would be worse? Or are you talking about hardware wise the Curve is poorly built?

I know I can't wait until the 8120 comes out. For now I'm stuck using a stupid generic Samsung flip phone so hurry! Lol, The 8120 will be the ultimate package for me. I had a Nokia on GhettroPCS with 2.0 megapixel and I loved the picture quality so I hope the 2.0 on the 8120 willl be just as good along with the sexy wi-fi.

The curve IS poorly built i.m.o. The pearl and 8800 have really sturdy keys, one thing I couldn't stand about the curve was that the keys seem to be just one big piece of plastic that's connected together and sticking out of little holes rather than individual keys. Idk, it just FELT cheap, I'm not an expert on it. Personally I'm going to get the new pearl because it's got probably more versatility than both the others, better value and it's even pocket sized! The only thing I'm kind of sad about is, I had gotten my hopes up thinking it would have GPS and WiFi... oh well. Who needs GPS anyway?

Poorly built? Hmmmm ok. Mine have been tanks. Had the pearl a year and didn't find it to be a better built device.
