I've read someone used a 6GB card on their 8100. 4.2 os. I myself use a 2 GB card. The next update in the OS (4.5) supposedly lets you use the 8GB card... but when the update is going to be available is anyone's bet.

OH. And welcome to the stacks.

With 4.2.0 I could not go any higher than 1gb. With 4.2.1 os I can use a 2gb card with no problem!

    Hello all -

Im currently using a 2 gig card with v4.2 os. I want to upgrade my os. Will I lose my pictures, ringtones, etc when I upgrade? How should I go about it?

Grapemist, you won't lose anything as long as you backup all your data with Desktop Manager.~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Indeed some older operating systems only support 2gb, however according to RIM devices operating with 4.2.1 should support up to 4 gb.
