    Question Berry411... normal behavior?

Any time I reboot my Pearl, Berry411 autostarts. It doesn't come up on the home screen, but it is listed along with the normal 5 apps that are always running. If I forget to close it out after a reboot, I notice that my battery life is worse. So for now I'm attributing it to Berry411 accessing the network in the background.

Is this normal? Any way to disable it from autostarting?

All I can offer to this question is that I have an 8700c and mine does the same thing. It is probably meant to be that way. I find myself closing it just to keep less apps running.

Mine doesn't do that. I don't think that's normal. Maybe search thebogles site for an answer. They make Beryy411.

Mine does exactly the same thing. Have v. 71 on Cingular and whenever I use the softreset app, Berry411 comes up. I usually am pretty good about closing so not a big deal but don't love the idea of programs running without my "permission"

Mine does the same thing, it's pretty annoying that there's not a preference somewhere to disable that.

Running in the background is needed for the address book integration, this setting is baked into the application configuration and I don't know if it's possible to make it a preference.

Do you think it would be worth it lose the address book integration in exchange for not running in the background? That's an easy change to make and I am considering it.

Thanks so much for responding to my question!
At least I now know that it is working as designed.

I've not taken advantange of the address book integration, so I'd be ok without it. Would it be possible to code that as an optional setting?

    Re: Berry411... normal behavior?

Another question, I suppose, is does it matter that much? Any idea how much memory it allocates to run? (showing ignorance) Is it limited to the size of the module(s)? Anyone know?

    Re: Berry411... normal behavior?

Good question. My concern isn't really the memory footprint. Rather, since I thought I was seeing quicker battery drain with it running, I thought that Berry411 was possibly accessing the network in the background.

That is a good point I hadn't considered. I'll tell you what, though. This 8700c of mine will hold a charge like no one's business. I couldn't be happier with the battery (it's the stock battery). So that didn't even enter my mind.
