I just have a question.. Is it possible to DL books and import them to your blackberry?
I mean just curious, it would be good to instead of listening to music all the time or watching videos, maybe read on the bus from my phone?? It would prob. strain my eyes after a while but I was wondering if it is possible.
Also if so, does anyone know links to DL and how to install? Maybe a new app is needed to DL?

There really is no an easy way of reading ebooks on it. Probably with a pdf or something but its to much trouble. Maybe they'll release a 3rd party software for this if they havent yet.
lol well i guess down the line something will emerge ..
Dunno about the guy that says it can't be done, but I've been using Mobipocket on my BB since it came out, and on my Palm phone way before that. It'll convert text (like you'd get from Gutenburg) and PDF, and reads PDB format natively. You can get a lot of MobiPocke tbooks for free at the Baen free library.
It's a pretty good reader.
Hi, I am going from a Palm to a Pearl, and I was quite exited when I read that MobiPocket natively read PDB files. The only problem is that I downloaded and installed Mobimate, but I cannot get it to accept any of my PDB files. It just saying "error while adding this file to the Library"
Any idea on what I might be doing wrong?

starwatcher - what is mobimate?
is that the same as MobiPocket?
You can listen to music and read . Lol im lazy and would prefer just the first.
edit: i'm not sure how exactly this works but it looks pretty simple enough, read a little bit each day until you finish a book.
They have a good sized collection of free books.
wow so it can be done?
Well I DLed Mobipocket... umm i dont know how to work it, i tried to drag it into my phone using media manager but it doesnt work.. can anyone help with installation?
And also when I create new folders in the /blackberry/ folder it doesnt add it on my phone, it still shows music, pics, video, ringtones..
I just downloaded the Beta 6 version from:
I installed it to windows, launched it on windows and connected my Pearl to my system (via USB cable). It, Mobi Pocket, immediately detected the Pearl and asked me if I wanted to install it on Pearl. I said yes.
It launched APPLoader and I seleceted MobiPocket to be installed (had to manually check it to be installed).
Then once the phone rebooted I clicked an OK button in mobiPocket on my computer to initiate a USB connection. I also had to accept this connection on my Pearl.
Thats it. I haven't tried reading any eBooks with it but its my understanding that you have to Import documents into MobiPocket on your computer, convert them to eBooks and then use mobiPocket to upload them to your phone. I do not think this application will let you place PDFs on say your media card and let you read it. I think you have to load them through MobiPocket first.
Eye strain ftw!
yea it worked .. i am not sure how to transport books into the folder and what not so if anyone can let me know..
Also some good links to Free books would be great...
Anyone know of links to online books for free so I can build up a library??
