I have an MP3 of my three year old daughter singing. Is there any way I can transfer/send it to my BB and have it be my ringtone?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Yes you can...

If you have a SD Card installed, you can use the phone as a pen drive (when you plug the phone on your PC, choose on the pop up menu on the phone "YES", this will let the phone to behave as a pen drive... goto the specified folder named RINGTONES and drop the file.

Or you can try the Desktop Manager and choose Media Manager....

    Cheers

Yes, the MacBook has a USB port and no, I don't have a SD card installed. Sorry, is that like an external memory card?

    NYC...

Your Pearl will take up to a 2 mg micro sd card which you can use to store songs, videos, pictures, and ringtones. Without it you are limited to the rather paltry memory on board. It will work just like a removable drive once installed. I dont know Mac but in Windows you can drag and drop media to your pearl - I would bet you can do the same!

Dana, all you have to do is take the battery cover off, pull the battery, install the memory card... replace all that lol (too many steps for adding memory cards)...

Then, connect the USB cable to the BB and your Mac... the Mac is great and should auto-mount it. When it does, open that (will be right on the Desktop if it mounts), then navigate to Blackberry / Music and copy the MP3 there.

When you are done loading MP3's you can eject the device (drag to trash) and unplug it

Let us know how it works out

NYC yeah you have to buy a memory card and remember to put your phone in mass storage mode and make it "discoverable". Then from there you just drag and drop.

Discoverable is only needed if you are connecting via BlueTooth
but yes I forgot about turning on Mass Storage mode, so used to not having to tell it that

    Thanks Everyone...

...for leading me through this, I really appreciate it.

    Okay, here's where I stand:

Inserted the card, plugged in BB via USB to MacBook and nothing happened. Now, I've also managed to lose my Desktop Software disk and may have never loaded it.

I'm connecting BB to Mac with PS Manager V. 4.

Which btw sometimes doesn't recognize the device~I usually have to do the "plug/unplug/reboot shuffle" a few times.

Do I need to load desktop software so media manager can recognize the card?

Anyone know where I can find the desktop softward download for Mac? Downloaded the v. 4.2 version from the BB site, but I think its for PC as Mac wouldn't load it...

Again, thanks for taking some time to assist~I'll pay it forward however I can.

    Dana

    Re: Bb 8100+mp3

    try this:
From the home screen ---> Options / Advanced Options / Media Card
hit menu then select Format Card
when it is done (will take about a minute), scroll up to "Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected:" to YES
above that - "Mass Storage Mode Support: " to ON
and above that - "Media Card Support:" ON

then after that you can escape back to the home screen (save changes if it prompts you)... and connect the USB... let us know what happens
