Battery Door Does Not Stay Shut

Returned my honey for a new lady and the same thing happens - the door does not stay locked in place and slides out all the time.

    I'm sad.

    Very poor/cheap door design.

Have to disagree. It's a good design and solid. Mine stays locked and so does my friends.

Assuming the store salesperson knows his or her stuff and confirmed a defective cover, not sure what the issue is with yours.

Didn't the salesperson check the replacement to make sure it was fine? Makes no sense that one would complain, exchange the phone, and the salesperson did not check the one given to you to make sure the replacement did not have the same problem.

Something ain't right here, especially since no one else has complained about the battery door/cover not staying in place.

I have a hard time getting my battery cover off! It is on there very solidly. If you are having the same problem with two devices, I would guess that your doing something incorrectly. Make sure all the feet (6 in total) get in their slots and slide it all the way down. It will quietly click into place.

Sorry, have to disagree, a buddy of mine is a prog mgr at Rim and confirms alot of people are experiencing this. The door does not at all stay shut, I have all six feet in. Lame. Oh well.

Still love the phone, but may return and wait for next batch.

I have this problem too! It's when you try to slide it open by the camera, it does this on almost everone if you try. But if you slide it from the middle, then it doesn't come open...

17oobie, thanks for clarifying, this is an issue. No worries I guess. I just need a good case.

The lid metal door thing is SOOOO tiny, as is the lip on the plastic slider that it simply is TOOO easy to open and doesn't stay locked. Gentle force opens the sliding door, its obvious, try it. Ugh. Its not a good locking mechanism thats all. I still love it, but I'm bummed about this cuz its a flaw.

Yeah, the locking mechanism is working fine, it's just when you press on the chrome part by the camera gently, and then slide, it opens! It's like a fulcrum!

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~I agree mine comes off pretty easy, I still use the release button so I don't make it worse thankfully it doesn't come off on its own.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~My sim card lock/cover seems to never stay locked when I remove the battery.

Cannot forget breaking the memory card lock/cover. Uuugh !

Thank goodness for my sons microscope kit. Came in handy.

Mine too, doesn't stay closed. Going to take it back to see if I can find a unit that's made a little better.

Also, on mine the power button feels "squishy". Like there's some tape underneath it. It's really annoying -- although the phone itself rocks, and the build quality is *much* better than the 8700g, it's still lacking just a bit.

Anybody else have the power button issue?

BTW, what's TMobile's policy on returns? Like buying from a kiosk, or buying online? Will they still swap out said "defective" phones?

I'm seriously thinking about sending mine back... But I know the next one will have the same problem! It doesn't open on it's own, that's good...

Windex, where did you get yours?
