So there was no warranty with your phone that you got, even though it is a refurbished one. If you want a new one and not a refurbished one then the $60 is a good deal. Well depending on how much you paid for your refurbished one. All the suggestions here should take care of your problem. Unless it is the USB connector in the phone itself or the battery or the phone. Good luck.

    Re: Battery Charging

First, take out the battery, look at the four gold contacts on the bottom of the battery. Are they green and crusty or nice and shiny? They should be nice and shiney. Next, reseat the battery in the device, put the bottom (where the contacts are) in first, give it a gentle shove againts the bottom of the phone and drop the battery in all the way. The battery should slide up just a little, as the device's power contacts have a little spring action built-in to keep the battery in place. Flip the phone upside down, does the battery fall out? No? Good. The device should try to boot at this point, but no big deal if it dosen't. Plug your charger in, and make sure the small end that attaches to the device is nice and snug. Those usb ends are NOTORIOUS for wiggling loose. If you see the yellowish/green led light up and fade out repeatedly, leave it alone. It should be doing it's thing. Check on it in an hour or so and see if there is any progress. Power up the device, go to options>status. See if the battery is better than 0%. If not, go to a battery store, they have meters there capable of checking your battery's status and testing wether or not it's any good. A $20 battery is way cheaper than another refurbed $60 phone that might not work either. Hell, take your phone to a computer/electronics shop and have them put a meter on the device's contacts (where the battery makes contact) while it's plugged in and see if the phone is putting out voltage to the battery! Any good non-radio shack type place with an old dude with white hair and cokebottle glasses behind the counter will know what you want before you ask for it.

    Re: Battery Charging

Fyi: I just metered my device and this is what i found.

looking at the device without the battery installed, there are 4 gold pins on the bottom right-hand corner
    call them 1 2 3 4

    1 is the negative/ground

    between 1 and 3 i found 4.5 volts DC
    between 1 and 4 i found 4.1 volts DC

on the phone with the contacts on the right:

between 1 and 4 (they are labled neg/pos respectively) i found about 4 volts DC on a pretty well charged battery. this dosen't say anything about the battery's potential, because it's not under load, but pretty safe to say if i get 4VDC there it SHOULD be ok.

    Re: Battery Charging

Are you getting a NEW phone or a new refurbished phone. Also did you have to pay the $60. Even though it is refurbished i would have thought you would have at least had 30 days or 90 days warranty. Good luck.
