    Question background image

Is there anyway to make it so the picture fits the entire screen, like the pictures already on the blackberry, and not have the white lines on the top and bottom.
    That's really bothersome.
I've tried changing the picture size and stuff with editing on my computer, but that doesn't help.
    Thanks.

Hi Cinday what size are you sizing your pics? 240 x 260 pixels is the default size for the Pearl.
What photo editing program are you using?
Let me know and maybe I can help, I use Photoshop.

    Re: background image

I just used a stupid internet one.
Simply just typed in Picture Editor in google and ended up at cellsea.com (http://www.cellsea.com/java-cellsea/media/index.htm)

I think I had it had 240x260, actually... maybe haha.
    I don't even remember.

I'm assuming I should download/use a real photo editor, like photoshop?
    hmm.

    Re: background image

you're gonna have to do some cropping. As you could tell the bb screen is taller than it is wide and most pictures (taken horizontally) are wider than they are tall so the bb is gonna fit the width (so the whole picture is viewable) therefore filling top and bottom with white space. Same if you took the picture holding the camera vertically you would have white space on left and right.

    Re: background image

thats a nice site you found there and would work perfect. if its a horizontal pic resize it to where the height is just above 260, if it's a vertical pic resize to where the width if just above 240. zoom in if needed, select crop, set at 240x260 and drag the box to part you want (which is almost the whole pic). Hit ok. Then save to pc. BTW...you only need to get the resizing close if you want nearly the whole pic.

    hmm.
Yes, if you have Photoshop open up Photoshop and do this:

-Go to File>New and open a new untitled blank image
Size it at 240 pixels wide x 260 pixels high
-Now bring in your photo/image you want to use for your background image.
-Right click on the top bar of the image to see what the image size is.
-Size it at as close as possible to the above size.
-Crop it if you need to to get it as close as possible to this size.
-Now right click anywhere on your image>select all>Hold down Control & C
Then go to the New image you sized
Hold down Control & V to paste, then hold down Control & T
Hold down the shift key, and move your cursor to the corner of the image where
you will see a sizing tab, and continuing to hold down the shift key
size the image so it fits perfectly within your New Image.
-Once you get it to fit exactly within the window right where you want it
release the shift key and double click the image and it will set.
-If you make any mistakes or want to move it, simply
Go to the top of Photoshop window and go to Edit>Step Backward.
*Keep in mind that you can move the image around also using your
left/right/up/down arrow keys on your keyboard as well (don't need
to use shift key while doing this).
-After double clicking and setting the image,
    got to Layer>Flatten Image
-Then you can save image as> whatever you wish to name it on your PC
and connect your BB and drag this into your media folder.

Might sound a little complicated but it really isn't and it is the way I have perfected
in Photoshop to get images perfectly sized for the BB screen.

If all else fails and you don't have Photoshop, PM me and I'll be happy to size it for you.

    Good luck! Lava

Yeah, just everytime I changed the height to 260ish, it automatically changed the width, but I realized I need to uncheck that box and it should work, but I was like, screw it.. I don't get this and asked lava.
She was very helpful. You both were. I'll remember to do that again, veryberry.

    thanks again.

    Re: background image

^^This works great bamaand if your pics are all sized correctly. If they aren't as Cindays was not, then you will not be able to do this, you will show white lines as she did no matter what. There is no one method, everybody has there own, and whatever works is great. Yours is perfect for already sized images or images that are even a little larger.
