Applications the run off Carrier's Network

I couldn't find a thread on this, so I started one.

I wanted to know ALL the applications that run off my Carrier's Network (eg. Cingular- MEdiaNet, TMobile- Tzones, etc..)

I dont have a DATA plan with Blackberry, so I am trying to get the best from my Pearl.

SO far I have internet working, SMS, Google maps, and JiveTalk. (thanks nelsong)

    Your help would be appreciated.

How do you not have a data plan and have Googlemaps and Jivetalk running?

I would be careful since they do monitor everything and also you maybe getting charged per kb or pay per usage. If you carrier is AT&T they will hit you with charges.

i have cingular. I also have a MEdiaNet plan that covers all data transfer over the gsm, gprs, and EDGE networks.

I think google maps, jive talk, and opera mini, automatically connect to any available network, whether it is TCP or BES.

With that said, what software is available that will connect to the gsm or gprs network?

With your medianet plan you're not suppose to be able to access tou tcp settings. From my understanding at&t locked that off when you only had medianet. Especailly at&t is really strict with that. So most people here have a data plan and we don't know what works and what doesn't since all those programs you named off require a DATA plan usually.

So if you're getting away with it cool. But be warned if they start charging you per kb it will be costly. Your best bet is trail an error.

    Good luck

Ok...I finally got a data plan.

Im scared now. Do you really think I got charged for using the data without a data plan?

Yes it is the first time...

Im sure they will remove the charges. Same thing happened to a friend, with verizon. He had $1500 worth of charges, and they brought it down to $400...I dont know how he pulled off $1500 worth of data...
