I don't have this unit, I have the 8700g. But, since I have my security on, i.e. it locks by itself after 30 minutes. It should power on and be locked! Well, mine does this. So, have you already set a 'timed' locked on it?

Re: Anyway to lock this phone on power on?

Well, I tried entering my gmail info thru my tmobile website on my pc and I got this message:

'We apologize, you do not have access to the My E-mail service.

Please use the e-mail solution provided with your wireless handheld.'

I tried thru the phone and it failed the first time, but the 2nd time it went thru. Tells me 20 minutes before I start receiving gmail.

When did you get you device? If it was today, your service may not be 'fully' active yet. But, you seem to be doing it correctly...

Ah! Well, you may have to speak with T-Mobile. sometimes when a BlackBerry account it first setup, a few features take 24hrs to be 'fully' functional, or they may have missed something on your account. Call them I say...

Wait a second, are there people who turn on their BlackBerry more than once?

Funny thing though: the 8100 is the first to have a power button.

Lewis you're funny! I try to keep mine on, but every once in a while, like Windows, I just think it needs a reboot - LOL

Lewis, your joking right? My 8700 has a power button, and so did my 7290. It's the left Button on the top of the 8700. On the 7290, it's the small round one to the right of the CAP key. And just like the newer PCs you have to press and hold to get them to turn off the BB.

They both have alternate functions to control (Somewhat) the Display Illumination Level though.

Actually, I wasn't joking about the power button.

I've only used the 7100r & 7130g befor the Pearl.

Neither of those had power buttons! There was the top side button for dimming the screen, but that's all it did.

I think if the button was pressed for few seconds it would do a 'sleep' mode thing, but that was by no means a real power off.

I've never turned mine off in the year and a half I've had it! And that goes for all three.

I do swap my SIM to other phones, but that doesn't count.
