Question Anyone know any tricks for improving reception?

    Hi Folks,

I'm visiting an area right now where the tmo coverage is really thin. I sometimes get a bar or two with the Pearl on the table, but it usually loses signal when I pick the thing up. If I start a voice conversation when there is signal, the phone works (slightly noisely) without dropping the call.

My question is... Does anyone know any tricks/mods for improving reception?

I've heard of lining the battery chamber with aluminum foil and not covering the bottom of the phone with one's hand. Any success with that?

I bet if I had a 5% improvement in signal strength, the thing would work fine.

    Cheers!

I live in an area with Very Weak TMO coverage. What I have found is that if I go to the second floor I get better coverage. Also, if you try only holding the phone with a couple of fingers (careful not to drop your BB), you might get better reception. Many times, your hand will interfere with the internal antenna.

U know my prother is hecka good at improving reception. He opens a cellphone and from there finds an antena output or some and just attaches a little tiny metal wire and leaves it somewhere there where there is room inside of the cell. Next thing u know, reception is perfect

This only helps a little but hold the phone away from your mouth and talk louder. The antenna is at the bottom so if it's up next to your mouth the reception isn't as good.

Get a booseter that can be found on the internet. The cost $ but you can move them depending on the type and what you get.
