Question Any IM program that REALLY works reliably ?

Just wondering if there is any IM program for the Pearl that works 99-100% reliably like a PC IM program ?

We all know the BB OZ doesnt update often enough and has other issues.

Ramble frequenly disconnects and doesnt reconnect for no reason and you the view buddy info doesnt work. I was disconnected 3 times already and the day is not even half over. Oops make that 4 times.

IM+ works OK with AIM but I have had many problems with the Yahoo on it, password errors when your already signed on, go to use it and Yahoo is disconnected, occasional java error.

RIM Yahoo seems to be the most solid Yahoo IM program but there are hardly any customizable settings.

Yea, unfortunately they all seem to have some limitations or bugs in them. I know many of our members use IM plus. Ramble i was never happy with .
It would be wonderful to have a IM pgm to really rely on...

yeah i was using ramble but i hated the random disconnects and having to reconnect so often.

i decided if i was going to use any type of paid AIM client i'd go with the cheapest first and used the YakOn trial, and i LOVE it. It reconnects automatically and times almost perfectly with my PC when it has AIM running(about a 3-5 second lapse between when my pc gets an IM and when my BB gets an IM)

basically i'm not paying $40-50 for AIM software, but if i have to pay YakOn is only $19 so it's not as hefty as i'd hoped it wouldnt be.

I use google talk that's hacked works very well. Always connected. I have ICQ, AIM, and MSN working on it. It takes a bit of work, but I'm very happy with how it works. http://www.blackberryforums.com/afte...im+google+talk

    there's a link.

I also tried YakOn but I need AIM and Yahoo really. I might try it again though after 6 disconnects with my test on Ramble in less than a day, its getting removed.

I find the RIM Yahoo the best of any IM program I can find. No disconnects (so far), auto reconnects every single time (so far) never had a single issue with it except lack of changable settings. It even notifies you at the top of the screen with an icon like you get when you received Push services, emails and sms. Really nice !

If only RIM would release an AIM IM program.

I would also really like to have a msn messenger program that is reliable but also free. If this is possible then please post back. Leave a link to the download site and also if there isnt a good free one then leave a link to cheap good one along with the price of this.

    Thanks in advance,

I tried that using both methods/programs mentioned before and never could get it work. Must have spent a couple hours over one weekend and just gave up.

I just need AIM and Yahoo and the RIM Yahoo is perfect. No AIM IMer seem near as good.

Have to say - tried Yak-On today and it worked quite well. Unless RambleIM resolves their connection problems, I might end up paying the $20.

I'm with reddog on google talk. It works really well -- just like a PC IM client -- and it can be made to work with practically any network. I use it for AIM. It integrates nicely into the BB OS too.

    Cheers.

I've been using Yak-on too since the post above was made, and its been working well, the only thing I can't figure out is if you have an active conversation, and you go back to the buddy list window how do you go back to the chat screen unless your IMmed back?

you would just choose someone on your buddy list and goto "chat" and it will show tabs of your current IM windows that are available.
