Thumbs up Alltel getting 8130 for the Holidays!

    Via Engadgetmobile.com

It didn't want to get left out of the RAZR 2 craze, and it doesn't intend to get left out here, either. Alltel has announced that it'll be adding RIM's CDMA BlackBerry Pearl -- the 8130 -- to its lineup in time for the holidays. It'll come in an "amethyst" shade and feature the same GPS, EV-DO, 2 megapixel cam, and external microSDHC slot featured on its Sprint and Verizon cousins. No word on an exact release date just yet, but when it is available, it'll run $150 after a $100 mail-in rebate. Register your interest now over at Alltel's site.

I had no idea that Alltel has EV-DO capabilities. I tried the Alltel site and for the life of me, can't find how much a Blackberry plan is.

The Alltel BB plans run $70 I think. My monthly bill is around $120 with my wireless plan & BB plan combined. I have a business account though so I don't know if that will differ for non-business users. Nice to see Alltel is trying to catch up with the rest of the world.

Actually, I just checked out Alltel.com and went through a fake order. It gave me a voice/data combined plan for $69.99 and said BIS/BES/BES Plus (asked me to pick which one) are included free. Not sure if this is a promo thing or not.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~i want to upgrade my phone as well (have alltel) the pearl would be perfect. But iam honestly thinking about biting the bullet and going tmobile (even tho they don't work well for me). But I don't know of any other narional carrier that offers the things tmobile does at a consumer price (bberry).

T-Mobile works great for me and I dont have to worry about roaming charges popping up on my bill like they often do with Alltel who does not offer free national roaming with any plans. .59 per min? Yeah right give me my 19.99 unlimited T-Mobile BB plan with roam free national coverage any day!

I have Alltel and have had it for several years so I think that I can be of some assitance. I have a Blackberry 8830 through Alltel. As for the roaming charges, I have been all over the country with my Alltel service and have never incurred any roaming charges. As far as the Blackberry service fees, there is no extra charge on the first phone with a data plan and any additional phones under that same plan are an additional $19.99. And you can choose b/t the three types of email services for those same prices. Hope that helps.
