~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~you should be able to use the oz instant messenger, because that does take text message usage. I believe tmobile has to turn it on though.

Just call them up and say hey why can't I use aim...? And see what they tell you, just refuse the data package

if youre on tmobile then you can use the OZ messneger...should come preinstalled on the device.

thats all the info i have. im guessing that there are 3rd party apps that use sms instead of data.

As of right now only OZ mssnger uses SMS.
All other IM apps use data.
(i think IM+ just released something that uses texts, check the 3rd partyapps section of pinstack)

nope no oz messanger anywhere to be found. the tmobile rep did not say anything about oz messanger either, do you think they're hiding it from us?

If you do not have data service call TM and ask them to add Blackberry Enabler (no cost) this should push the OZ application to your device.

You should also be able to install it with Desktop Manager if you have your BB operating system installed on your desktop.

How do you get this app for at&t? The one in blackberry apps-> AIM is absolutely the most annoying one i've ever seen. I get alerts while i'm trying to text and i have to ignore/view each message i get if i'm not in the application.

Does this program show your messages in the SMS folder? Any way of getting an application folder on your screen for a chat app?

I was talking to a AT&T tech and he told me (and emailed) the following:

Scroll to and select the MEdia Net icon (to select press the trackball in).
Scroll to and select Mail & Messaging.
Scroll to and select Mobile IM.
    Scroll to and select Download.
"Device must be rebooted to complete install" will display when download is complete, select Reboot.
    Device will restart.
NOTE: Upon reboot, "Do you want to allow the application Instant Messaging to act as a server" may appear. Choose Allow this connection.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~what about tmobile users. Because tmos oz instant messaging does take text messages. And I'm wondering if there is a way to change that
