    AIM Away Messages

Hi PinStackers, I have a little question.

I know we can't customize our own AIM away messages on the Pearl, but how come it doesn't sync with AIM on the PC? In other words, I'll have my Pearl message on at the same time I'll have my message on via AOL, but if someone IMs me they recieve the standard Pearl message. Does anyone know if there's a way I can make it so that if someone IMs me they'll recieve my customized away message? Any input is appreciated.

hmmm, I use JiveTalk so I am able set custom away messages. You should be able to in most AIM applications. Are you using the RIM AIM app or another one?

Bump up to JiveTalk and you can control custom away messages. Like the Ninja Device Expert said. Otherwise, I'm not familiar with the RIM AIM app so I dunno.

With JiveTalk, are you able to talk to anyone (like if they have AIM or Yahoo or something) or just those with JiveTalk?

JiveTalk allows you to use several IM clients at once. It works with AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Google, Jabber, and a couple of other platforms that I can't think of right off the top.

Very stable, very reliable, and well worth the small $$ you pay to get it. Hands down the best app I have on my phone.

Word to the wise: Pony up the extra $10 for a full license. If you ever lose your phone, need a warranty replacement, or upgrade, you'll be glad you did.

Do you have to pay for it with a credit card or do I get billed from my carrier if I get jivetalk?

Thanks for everyone's help. I just downloaded the 30 day free trial, so I'll see how I like it. More than likely I'll purchase it because I'm reading some great reviews on it. Thanks again!
