    a few questions

i just got the 8100 pearl and have a few questions.

    1) i have looked on this forum and seen people saying you can go to mobile.blackberry.com and click on extras to download more content.
the problem i have is at first it said i need a blackberry browser and wouldnt even take me to the site so i installed opera mini and can get to the site and still it says i need a browser? as first i used to use the vodafone live browser but now i have opera mini. (i am i still missing something)

    2) also i have seen there is a area for a new OS and as far as i can see no one has had a problem with it but most are on Tmobile where as i am on vodafone and wanted to know would that matter.

    3) i have heard there is a limit on how big of a memory card you can use in the 8100 pearl as i can get a 2gig card but wanted to know would that work?

    4) is there a option on the 8100 pearl to make videos or a program that can make them from the mobile.

    5) i have heard some users saying that the trackball on the pearl light up different colours is this ture?

sorry for so many question but i throught it would be better to post them in one post rather then five different posts.

It could be that mobile.blackberry.com isn't seeing your device as a wap device.

Go into the browser, click the menu, click Options, click Browser Configuration.

Check your Emulation settings. Mine are on Microsft IE

Check your Content Mode setting. Mine are on WML&HTML

This is the same error you get if you go to that site from a normal browser.

    send service books?
vodafone sent me some but i havent sent any.
also i read somewhere that i need to log-in to my blackberry account from a pc and send the browser service book.
but when i logged in (mobileemail.vodafone.net) theres only one service book there and thats for email. which is working fine.

So you're on the BIS plan from Vodaphone? If your e-mail is working, then I assume you've registared with the network.

Go to Options, Advanced Options, Service Books and see if you have one that says Blackberry Internet Browsing and VodaPhone WAP BrowserConfig

    Re: a few questions

ok tried all of the following.
    1) in my vodafone browser the Emulation setting are on openwave gateway and theres no option to change them just restore defaults and close, the content mode is on wml&html.

    2) as for the service books i went in to the advanced options and there isnt any for blackberry internet browseing. this is what i have in there.

    provisioning (provisioing)
    vodafone live (browser config)
    blackberry HELP (browser config)
    BBfs1 (bbimconfig)
    BBFs2 (bbimconfig)
    services - vfuk waptrans (wap)
    wap push config (wappushconfig)
    wap mms transport (wap)

    hope this helps

    Re: a few questions

With Vodafone UK you will have to call the Customer Care, Ask for BlackBerry Care and complain that you do not have the Internet Browser. There are reports that this will get them to send you Service Books for the Internet Browser.

    hope this helps

    Re: a few questions

For Vodafone UK you can ring this number direct (08454400134) B/Berry tech support and they will do there and then. You will need your pin number as they ask for it. Then they send you the new books reset your phone (remove battery) then under advanced settings , browser change "default browser configuration to: internet Browser then do the same with MDS browser save and your done. then go to themes and go to menu "download themes" you will now be able to download from B/Berry web site. Long winded, but it took me weeks to work this one out with the help of the guys here (great bunch) John

    Re: a few questions

just tried the number which was given 08454400134 but its only for people who have a blackberry through there business.
so i tried the vodafone help service 191 and told them i needed a blackberry browser and the person new what i was talking about and said he would send the service books for this.
    but guess what.
service books arrived but no blackberry browser still the same vodafone live browser.
so i guess i cant have the blackberry browser as vodafone keeps sending the live one (or dont know what to do).
