    8g SD card question

Am using the 8G card with no problem; however, card properties show 7.6G of total space. Anyone know why it wouldn't show 8G (or at least almost 8)? Thanks

It is just like a hard drive, the total capacity is 8GB but after it is formated you loose some of the capacity. Look at the Hard Drive in your PC, does the same thing, ie: 160 GB Drive 149 GB usable formated unter NTFS.

Manufacturers typically quote raw capacity using the power of 10, although using 1024 bytes as their base number in some cases. Thus 8GB could be translated into 8000000 Kbytes. Now divide by 1024*1024 to get actual fornatted GB as the operating system will see it and you get just over 7.6GB. As the OS will take a small portion for header and allocation table space, you end up with sometimes up to 10% less than the actual quoted capacity of anything from flash to spining disks.
So, in a nutshell, normal. Look at your PC disk and see what you get for useable capacity verus the 160GB or 320GB or 500GB quoted capacity.

On a similar note: Would an 8gb microSD HC work in the 8120??

I'm looking at prices online now and I just don't want to order the wrong card.
