8800 vs. 8100: what are the differences?

So I know the basic differences:

    8800 -
    full QWERTY
    GPS
    slightly bigger screen

    8100 -
    Suretype
    no GPS
    Camera

I have heard here on the Stacks that the 8800 is "packed" with stuff. What other apps/hardware does the 8800 come with that the Pearl does not (and vice-versa)? Can anybody tell me the real difference between these two phones?

    Thanks,
    BRZ

Packed with? Ehh not so much. The 8800 is larger and so looks like a more traditional bbersonally? I just like the small size of the pearl as it fits my college lifesyle a little better. When it came down to it for me... The GPS wasn't a huge feature, the size was. That's just my . 02 ~ via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Ab, thanks for the response, but this does not really answer my question...

I'm looking for specific details of what the differences are. It seems to me that the only real differences are the ones I have already mentioned.

You can go with a bluetooth GPS receiver, but the pearl does not have it built in. There's threads here that discuss bluetooth GPS receivers.

Stonebreeze, there aren't too many other differences that we know of yet other than the ones you mentioned. What I have heard is that they have improved upon the speaker (a major complaint for many Pearl users) and the later model of the 8800 will have WiFi.

Yes, thank you. I am aware of the GPS receivers you can purchase that are compatable with the 8100. However, the 8800 has this built in. So, IMHO the Pearl does not have GPS.

Can anybody help with my question?

Thanks jbyar! This is what I thought. What are the advantages of WiFi compared to the network the Pearl works on?

don't think this would be a selling point for me then. I sit in front of a computer all day and then go home and sit in front of my home PC. I surf the net pretty infrequently from my Pearl.

Mainly use it for email-on-the-go, PDA function, and media player.

Stick with the Pearl then. No need to spend more money on features you won't use.

If that's your profile and you like the smaller size of the Pearl, then stick what that. There are no significant new features on the 8800. It's a Pearl with qwert (so it's wider) and no camera, that's the bottom line.
    BB Pearl, Seidio rubberized case.
