Looked black to me, but that sounds like a cool color anyway.

I saw the purpleberry as well.
The Srint store here had both Black and I guess it's supposed to be blue.

Good point. There aren't many left haha! Technically this is the third Pearl I've had. So I'm getting pretty used to it by now. The only BlackBerry I have yet to own is the Curve. Hopefully Verizon will be hooking that up in the next few months.

The "2.0" version of the Pearl is quite the improvement over the original. My only real gripe is with the OS and lack of themes and games.

You can view the phone here. But I have to say it looks blue there. Amethyst is a deep plum kind of color. Definitely unique considering the current hues of Pearls currently available.

!!! Let me correct myself, lack of RIM originals. Dimension L aside. And of course the Vendor themes, my two favorite being the Orange today theme and the TIM zen theme.

I was under the impression that it wasn't available for downloading for free from RIM on the 4.3 OS. I know there is a $10 version floating around out there, but I'm cheap!

I used it for about a month; I like the look of things in the 4.3 OS, other than that though, its just another Pearl

Well that much is true based on the form factor. But really the biggest difference that is noticeable off the bat is the quality of the buttons. At that was the case for me.

    Re: 8130 Impressed or Not?

I've currently got the 8100 and I really like it, save a few small software items I'm hoping will come about in an OS upgrade sometime (eg. birthday field in Contacts w/reminder, less clunky media player, password sync, etc)...but I guess I won't hold my breath for these. What I didn't see in this thread is a consolidated list of improvements in the 8130 over the 8100. So far, what I can tell is:

    - 2.0 megapix camera
    - gps
    - video capture
    - button quality?

...do you mean the media player buttons, or the physical buttons? The size and layout of the 8100 is nice, but I find the materials and assembly to be on the cheap side. Dust has developed on the lcd screen under the front cover of my 8100, which indicates that there is no seal around the screen (a real nuisance now). These are a couple of issues I've had with the 8100 that I'm hoping have improved in the 8130. I'm more a productivity-oriented type, so themes, app look-and-feel and other "flashy" features aren't of big importance to me.
