Question 8100 Won't Boot, FLashing LED, tried everything!

    Hey all!

I've tried everything I know how to do. I have an 8100. The LED simply flashes once waits then flashes 3 more times (4 total). It then repeats infinitely. I've tried to connect and reinstall via USB. THis is to no avail. Tried a fully charged battery from someone else's 8100. It was working totally fine last night. I woke up and it was giving me this problem. Please help I have 8500+ text messages on it that i haven't backed up and severely need for a book that I am writing.

    THanks!
    ::Matt

Thank you but this is for people getting the "the hourglass of doom." and for people who's phones ARE initializing. Mine is not even turning on. Thanks!

Just follow the directions. It will get yo back up and running.

Just follow them to a T and be patient. It might take a couple of tries.

I used to mod Xboxes so i am good with tut's but when I got to step 6 i couldn't follow it cause it won't detect my phone. Even when I select "detect device" it does nothing. It's not even listed under my device manager as plugged into the USB port.

Also I tried the Javaloader and it says "error unable to connect to device". This isn't looking very good. Any Help is much appreciated!

I'm telling you...It doesn't boot...not like the hour glass problem. I'm saying my screen doesn't even come on. It just sits and flashes. I've tried to reinstall about 5 different ways. It just doesn't get to a place where it can even connect to the computer.

Have you successfully connected to this PC before?

We need to rule out bad USB ports, bad USB cable, and missing USB drivers, bad Desktop Manager install, etc. Also are you running XP or Vista?

And also you need to note that if you use JL_Cmder (java loader) your device will be wiped clean (including the text messages you need, although to be honest I dont hold out much hope for recovery)

YES i know what ur talking about...
yesterday, i had a 507 error.. when i was installin the OS again, i mistakly took out the USB wire( i know what a bood... :P) then i took out the battery, and put it back in. the screen wouldnt come on and the LED would just keep blinking red every couple of seconds. just do this:
put the battery back in. connect up your computer and phone. open up DM. Click app loader. click next click next again. click advanced. MAKE SURE BOTH BOXES ARE CHECKED!!! click next until it starts doin its thing. wait until it finishes. then leave the phone connected just in case. the hourglass will still be there for like 20-30 mins.. its waaaaaaaay longer than a regular boot. then your BB will be back to the way you got it for the first time good luck!!!!!!!!!

    Same thing happened to mine.

I posted how I fixed mine. Under "The blinking red light fix!"

you could try that and see what happens.
