    8100 VIDEO?

In my area on the classifieds site "Craigslist" people are selling blackberry pearl 8100's that record video....last time I checked this was not possible on the 8100. People are also claiming that they have a "software upgrade" to upload to a 8100 so that it can record video, I have searched the net and haven't found any software like that so I just want to double check with you guys. If this is possible I would like to try it out.

What OS are you running now? Options/about/ 3rd line down. I am not totally sure but I believe video option was in 4.5 for the 8100.

Sorry, but as I recall the 8100 lacked the necessary hardware to record video. The 83XX series was the first that allowed video recording when 4.5 OS finally came out.

Yes I had an 8100 with OS 4.5 on it, it is possible, and came out with the upgrade, any older bb with 4.2 or 4.3 that has a camera can record video after upgrading their OS to 4.5 (this is from the blackberry company themselves, its not an add on or a 3rd party app)

    So their claims are legit.

WAIT I COULD BE THINKING OF MY OLD CURVE THAT HAD 4.2 ON IT... YIKES

I can check when i go home for lunch, the pearl is at home. if nobody else knows.

I know my friends 8120 can record for sure

Yes rashard, I think you are thinking of your old curve. I am pretty sure that the only ones who got video on an 8100 did it with a hack and the quality was super crappy, all green and majorly distorted or something. Fun to hack and say you did it, but certainly not usable.

I have an 8100 with the 'hacked' Video Recording, and yes, the quality is pretty bad, it almost looks like night vision...still comes in handy because under the Video Camera Settings, you can set the video light to ON, that way you can utilize the flash as a flashlight...VERY, VERY USEFUL..I use it EVERY DAY!!!!!

EDIT: I've attached a Screen Shot of my Video Camera (hack) on my Pearl 8100, if you guys like it, PM me and I can email you a 'How-To'

The 8100 does not do video on os4.5 maybe you are mistaking it for the 8120 which does do video since it has a 2.0 MP camera
