    My Pearl sometimes refuses to answer calls. The phone rings, I can scroll between the drop and answer options but can't pick up the call. It then rings out, the call goes to answerphone and the pearl then freezes in the missed call notification menu for about four minutes before I can call the person back.

    It's so frustrating. I'm with the Orange network in the UK. I'm now on my fourth handset in less than a month (I purchaed the upgrade on Christmas Eve) and they all develop the same fault. Orange can't help, they just keep biking me new handsets. It's a ridiculous situation. Is there anything I can download without breaking my service agreement? I've emailed blackberry from their main website.

    Hi Josie, I'm from London as well, when you receive a call are you able to answer the call by pressing the green button or does the phone freeze? I take it that you have pulled the battery out waited 30 seconds and put it back in. Len

    Hi Len, the phone lets me scroll between the drop and answer options but won't let me select either. Simply pressing the green key doesn't work either. Thanks for the battery suggestion, I've tried that a few times but to no effect.

    This has happened to me twice. Both times I have my phone in standby mode, then the calls comes and I cannot answer or reject the call...no matter what buttons I press. Nothing works. Then after the call is missed, I can highlight icons on my homescreen but am unable to "click" on any of them. I end up holding the mute button, putting the phone back in standby, then pressing the mute key again to bring the phone out of standby then everything works. Also, pressing and/or holding the mute key while the phone is ringing has no affect on my being able to answer the call.

    I'm with tmobile and have the same problem I'm on My second pearl... Makes me want to get a new phone..

    i take it y'all are using different versions of the handheld software?

    options > about to check.

    I keep saying this,i'm not getting a pearl because it's so buggy!

    I am using the v4.2.0.64(platform 2.2.0.37).. So yeah...done cold reboot master reset as well.. Problem still occurs

    Try upgrading to the latest Cingular .71 OS. I just did it this morning and haven't had any problems. My main problem was the delay when answering the phone.

    You can install it, but follow the instructions carefully. If you want to return the phone to Tmobile you'll need to install the tmob version of the software or they may void your warranty for installing a different carriers' software. This is not a commonly posted problem with Tmobs software at all. I might just take it to a store and have them wipe the device clean and reinstall the software and restore it. You can also call CS and they will talk you through how to wipe the device and redo the software. I think it's a faulty setting or bad file somewhere. Switching to Cingular's software may fix it too.

    No problem at all. The software is phone model specific not provider specific.

    All software is written by RIM - not by the providers.

    Just remember, after you have installed the desktop software to remove the vendor.xml file on your PC or your Pearl will not see the updated software.

    There are many, many posts on Pinstack about this.

    i have problem when phone rings and when i answered, i have to wait for atleast 2 sec for opposites party to hear me. any idea what the problem is?

    Hi Wonderlander...

    I don't know if you got a chance to read the earlier posts in this thread but the most likely problem is with your Operating System and an upgrade to a newer OS will commonly correct this issue.

    Anyways, this is not an isolated issue because I can vouch for the bugs as well. So long as you are a light user everything should be good.

    But definately install the new software upgrade & wipe the phone clean!

    That's the only way to cure that particular problem. However, there are some new bugs with the upgrade

    Don't worry though, they're not as bad as the old bugs....
