thye both are great devices, it just all really depends on preference. do you perfer have a full qwerty device or using suretype.
do you want somehing small or do you not care about size.
also is gps something thats important to you.
out of the 2 devices i perfer the pearl, because of the size, and becuase of the colorpearl program so i can change my trackball's pearl. i also like it because it small.
i don't mind the keypad at all either

I'd go with the 8800, I've never really cared for the suretype system, and I like the larger screen (that's more in a pc format). GPS is awesome.

If you dont need a Blackberry right now. I suggest that you wait a few months and wait for the new BB's that are comming out (not sure when...saw pics on these) They have GPS and WIFI and cool stuff....i would wait for the newest ones.

Pearl would be your cool gadjet....
8800 would be your business like gadjet

I've had the 8830 with VERIZON and now I have the pearl with tmobile. I have to say. For me they both run neck and neck. I love the pearl size and camera but at times I do miss the full keyboard. But you actually get use to SureType very quickly.

I like the pearl... I really have no problems with suretype, I can honestly say that I type faster on my BB than my keyboard.. I mastered this sucker

You do get use to it fast. I've gotten a lot better on it too.

    Re: 8100 or 8800

I have both. I prefer the Pearl with it's small size and actually find the keyboard easier to use. I cannot use the 8800 keyboard, the keys are too small and I end up with too many mistakes. GPS is nice but don't use it too much.

hmmm the thing is, i'll have both of them and im either keeping the pearl and giving the 8800 to my bro or vise versa. hmmmm looks like alot more people like the pearl. i do like the camera feature that the 8800 doesnt have, but it is just a 1.3 mp camera and i have a digital cam already. i also like the color pearl feature. i still dont know which one.

    Re: 8100 or 8800

I have the 8100 and my husband has the Tmobile Dash (I believe the 8800 is similar in size to the dash), but I prefer the size of the 8100. I didn't think I would like Suretype, but now love it. When I type on the dash's full size qwerty keyboard, it takes me a little longer to complete a message LOL! The 8100 is better suited for my lifestyle.
